Are teak furniture pieces environmentally friendly?
One of the most frequent questions our customers ask is: How do I know if the teak is sustainable? At Luxus, we take our environmental responsibility very seriously and want to assure our customers that all our teak furniture comes from legal sources. Choosing the right material for your outdoor furniture is important because you want to be sure it's durable and resilient, and have the peace of mind that the materials used come from responsible sources.
In this blog, we'll discuss how we source our teak and why it's so important to choose an environmentally friendly supplier.
Where does the luxury teak wood come from?

We offer a wide range of teak garden furniture, from garden sets to chairs, tables, and loungers. All the wood used for our furniture comes from sustainable plantations on the island of Java. These plantations are managed and owned by the Indonesian government, which has implemented a very strict and effective system for sustainable harvesting. This system not only monitors how many trees can be felled each year, but also selects the trees used based on age and size. This controlled harvesting allows the government to effectively oversee the replanting of teak trees.
Is luxury teak wood legally sourced?

You may have noticed that all our teak wood carries the SVLK certificate. This system is used by the Indonesian government to ensure that the teak wood has been legally harvested. Only teak wood that fully meets the government's guidelines can receive the SVLK certificate. Teak wood without an SVLK certificate that is sold on European markets has been illegally logged.
Is teak wood sustainable?
The teak wood we use does not come from a natural forest but is responsibly sourced from government-regulated plantations that ensure it is a renewable resource through reforestation. These plantations work hard to ensure that teak wood does not become an endangered species and that all trees used for commercial purposes are harvested for that purpose.
Sustainable teak wood at Luxus:
We take our social responsibility as a company very seriously and are proud that all our teak wood comes from legal plantations. Illegal logging is a major problem worldwide. We hope our commitment to sourcing only sustainably sourced teak gives you the confidence to shop with us.
Teak is an incredible material, and we not only ensure that we source it from legal plantations, but we also use teak for its many eco-friendly benefits. Teak is rich in natural oils, which give it a natural resistance to pests. Because of this, plantations don't need to use insecticides or chemicals during the growing season. When manufacturing our teak furniture, we also ensure that all offcuts are recycled. Furthermore, we only use Grade A teak to guarantee the longevity of our furniture.
